Manchester School of Art- Graduate Collection 2016
GRADUATE COLLECTION
GRADUATE COLLECTION
Graduate collection for Manchester School of Art, which received nominations for awards including FAD and Fashion Undressed.
My collection was born from the photographs and iconography I collected during my time living in China. Images of traditional Chinese uniforms and robes donned by the working class were complimented with my photography of abandoned buildings in disarray which were to be found scattered everywhere around the city I lived in. With this focus on the inevitable erosion of everything, I used multiple distressing/destroying techniques on a a mostly denim collection, while having my photographs of eroding walls digitally printed onto canvas. Wide silhouettes comprising of multiple layers were reminiscent of the uniforms and robes I had become so fascinated with during my time in China.
